Shiatsutouch - creative bodywork

Shiatsu (Japanese from shi, meaning finger, and atsu, meaning pressure) is a traditional hands-on therapy originating in Japan. Shiatsu Practice combines a working knowledge of western anatomy and physiology, along with Traditional Chinese Medicine. This Theory underpins all aspects of our hands on creative bodywork treatment. Treatment may be concentrated around particular joints or muscles, using point work or deep stretching to help relieve symptoms.

Shiatsu is a relaxing treatment and can be beneficial for back pain, stress, headaches, whiplash injuries, neck stiffness, joint pain and other reduced mobility issues. As well as treating physical ailments shiatsu can work effectively on a deeper level, positively helping clients with depression and ongoing anxiety.

Karen has particular expertise working with womens health. She has completed extra training in Shiatsu fertility and pregnancy. She regularly treats women with eating problems, digestive issues and menstrual concerns.

Shiatsu is regulated as a licensed medical therapy in Japan by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and elsewhere by various governing bodies set up by Shiatsu practitioners. Shiatsu is an evolving form, and its various styles incorporate (to differing degrees) aspects of Japanese acupressure traditions.
